UI Engineer - Plotly / Python

MCS Group is looking for a UI Engineer with substantial Plotly experience to build interactive dashboards and user-facing applications supporting data, analytics and AI solutions.

This is a hands-on development role for someone who can combine front-end engineering skills with Plotly expertise to build polished, responsive and intuitive applications that make complex data and AI outputs accessible to end users.

You'll work closely with data engineers, data scientists and technical stakeholders, turning requirements into functional, production-ready interfaces.

The Role

• Develop interactive dashboards and web applications using Plotly, Plotly.js and Dash.
• Build reusable UI components and responsive front-end interfaces using JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML and CSS.
• Integrate interactive visualisations into web applications, connecting front-end components to APIs and back-end services.
• Develop user interfaces for data-driven and AI-powered applications, including document review tools and chat-based interfaces.
• Optimise rendering and application performance when working with large datasets and complex visualisations.
• Translate technical requirements and user feedback into intuitive UI designs and functional features.
• Test, debug and refine applications to ensure usability, accessibility and reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams throughout development, demonstration and iteration.

What we're looking for

• Demonstrable, hands-on experience building user interfaces or applications with Plotly, Plotly.js or Dash.
• A strong front-end engineering background, with experience developing interactive web applications.
• Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript, alongside HTML and CSS.
• Experience with modern front-end frameworks such as React.
• Python development experience, particularly where used alongside Plotly or Dash.
• Experience integrating front-end applications with REST APIs, databases and data services.
• An understanding of UI/UX principles, responsive design and application performance.
• Familiarity with Git, automated testing and CI/CD workflows.

Desirable experience:

• Developing interfaces for AI, machine learning or analytics applications.
• Working with Databricks or cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
• Experience with containerised applications and modern deployment practices.
