Trade Effluent Sampler (Driver)

MCS Group are proud to be partnering with Northern Ireland Water in their search for a Trade Effluent Sampler. This full-time temporary opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, engaging with customers and carrying out practical, hands-on work while contributing to environmental protection and regulatory compliance.

The Role:

• Collect trade effluent samples from industrial premises and Northern Ireland Water sites across Northern Ireland, delivering samples to specified collection points and/or the analytical laboratory.
• Set up and retrieve automatic samplers and undertake spot sampling at a range of industrial premises and NI Water locations.
• Carry out on-site tests, which may include pH and temperature testing, and accurately record results.
• Undertake routine maintenance and preparation of portable sampling equipment, ensuring all equipment is fit for purpose and reporting any defects.
• Assist with the delivery of the trade effluent sampling programme and collection and recording of trade effluent-related meter readings.
• Complete all required paperwork and electronic records associated with sample collection, maintaining sample integrity and chain of custody.
• Support compliance and pollution investigations through additional sampling, recording observations, gathering evidence and providing witness statements where required.
• Carry out visual inspections of samples and accurately record any anomalies identified.
• Safely load, unload and transport sampling equipment, including equipment requiring manual handling.
• Maintain the cleanliness and condition of the NI Water vehicle, completing daily inspections and reporting any faults or damage.
• Follow established sampling procedures and requirements under UKAS / ISO 17025 accreditation while maintaining confidentiality during compliance investigations.

The Person

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

Essential:

• Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English and Maths, or equivalent.
• At least 6 months' experience dealing with customers face-to-face in a positive and professional manner.
• Demonstrable experience managing your own workload, with the ability to plan and prioritise effectively.
• Full current driving licence enabling you to drive in Northern Ireland.
• Ability to undertake the manual handling requirements of the role, including lifting loads and equipment in excess of 12kg.

Desirable:

• At least 6 months' experience of taking water or wastewater samples, carrying out on-site tests and accurately recording data.

The successful candidate will also demonstrate a professional approach, strong communication skills, personal integrity and the ability to build positive working relationships. You will be comfortable working independently, taking initiative where appropriate and contributing to improvements in working practices.
