Technical Business Analyst

Location: County Antrim OR Tyrone
Salary: £40,000-£50,000,
Hybrid working
An established Northern Irish manufacturing and construction organisation is appointing a Technical Business Analyst to support a major programme of software, systems and digital transformation.
This newly created position will bridge the gap between business stakeholders and technical teams. You will gather requirements, understand operational challenges and translate them into clear technical deliverables for software developers and implementation partners.
The organisation operates a combination of internally developed software and third-party business systems. You will help improve existing functionality, assess integrations and contribute to a longer-term roadmap covering cloud technology, automation, ERP and management reporting.
This is not a software-development position, and you will not be expected to write code. However, you must be technically confident enough to discuss software functionality, APIs, integrations, testing and cloud-based systems with developers.

What you'll be doing

  • Gather and document requirements from operational and technical stakeholders.
  • Translate business needs into functional and technical requirements.
  • Work directly with software developers throughout design and delivery.
  • Produce user stories, workflows, acceptance criteria and supporting documentation.
  • Map existing and future business processes, systems and data flows.
  • Support enhancements to internally developed business software.
  • Assess and document integrations between internal and third-party systems.
  • Support functional testing, UAT, defect management and implementation.
  • Help determine which existing systems should be retained, integrated, improved or replaced.
  • Contribute to the organisation's longer-term Azure and cloud roadmap.
  • Support automation initiatives and emerging AI-enabled projects.
  • Help improve reporting connected to ERP and operational systems.
  • Manage stakeholders and challenge requirements where appropriate.

What we're looking for

  • Experience as a Technical Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst or technically focused Business Analyst.
  • A track record of working directly with software-development teams.
  • Strong requirements-gathering and documentation skills.
  • Experience translating business problems into technical deliverables.
  • Knowledge of APIs, system integrations or interconnected applications.
  • Experience producing user stories, functional requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Functional-testing and UAT experience.
  • Process, system or data-flow mapping capability.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Confidence working within an evolving, fast-moving environment.

Particularly relevant experience

Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:

  • Microsoft Azure or cloud-transformation projects.
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 or Business Central.
  • Power BI, SQL or Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Bespoke or internally developed enterprise software.
  • Automation or AI-enabled workflows.
  • Manufacturing, construction, engineering or supply-chain systems.

Why consider this opportunity?

  • Newly created role with scope to influence its direction.
  • Central involvement in a significant digital-transformation programme.
  • Direct exposure to internally developed software and business-critical systems.
  • Opportunity to contribute to cloud, integration and automation initiatives.
  • Choice of multiple locations across NI as your working location.
  • Hybrid working and a competitive salary package.

This position would suit a technically capable Business Analyst who enjoys working closely with developers but also wants visibility across the wider organisation and its future technology strategy.
