SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR
Belfast | Hybrid working | £38,000-£42,000
Are you looking for more ownership than a traditional support role, without being left to manage an entire IT environment alone?
A growing Belfast-based organisation is appointing a Systems Administrator to take responsibility for its modern Microsoft cloud and endpoint environment. You will help improve how internal IT operates across Microsoft 365, Intune, Entra ID, endpoints and security.
This is a broad, hands-on position for someone who enjoys solving problems, improving processes and delivering projects. You will have the freedom to propose and drive improvements while working collaboratively with experienced technical and business stakeholders.
THE ROLE
You will be responsible for:
* Administering the Microsoft 365 environment
* Managing users, groups, licences, access and permissions
* Configuring and supporting endpoints through Microsoft Intune
* Managing device enrolment, compliance policies and application deployment
* Supporting identity and access controls through Entra ID
* Maintaining Microsoft Defender and endpoint-security controls
* Improving onboarding, offboarding and joiner/mover/leaver processes
* Identifying opportunities for scripting and automation
* Strengthening IT documentation, governance and security processes
* Supporting work toward ISO 27001 and future compliance requirements
* Administering internal platforms such as Jira and Confluence
* Providing practical support for office-based users when required
* Presenting recommendations and improvement proposals to stakeholders
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
You should have:
* Previous experience as a Systems Administrator, IT Systems Engineer or similar
* Hands-on Microsoft 365 tenant administration experience
* Practical Intune experience across device management, compliance and application deployment
* Experience administering Entra ID/Azure AD
* Good knowledge of endpoint management and security
* Exposure to Microsoft Defender or a comparable security platform
* Experience taking ownership of systems, improvements or technical projects
* The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with others
* A broad and adaptable approach suited to a growing business
Experience with any of the following would be beneficial:
* Conditional Access
* Exchange Online, Teams or SharePoint administration
* PowerShell or other scripting and automation
* ISO 27001, SOC 2 or Cyber Essentials
* Automated onboarding and offboarding workflows
* Backup and disaster recovery
* Jira and Confluence administration
* Relevant Microsoft certifications
WHY CONSIDER IT?
* Take genuine ownership of a modern Microsoft environment
* Work across cloud, endpoints, identity, security and automation
* Deliver visible improvement projects rather than only processing tickets
* Help shape a developing internal IT function
* Work with supportive technical and leadership stakeholders
* Gain exposure to security, compliance and ISO 27001 initiatives
* Build toward increased responsibility as the organisation grows
* Hybrid working from a Belfast office
This position would suit a broad Systems Administrator from an SME or growing organisation. A strong second-line engineer could also be considered if you already have meaningful Microsoft 365, Intune and systems-administration experience.
The company normally works three days per week from its Belfast office, with some flexibility required to attend additional days for onboarding, events or hands-on technical requirements.
