Qualified Accountant

MCS Group are delighted to be partnering with a leading Northern Ireland hospitality group as they look to appoint a Qualified Accountant to join their growing Finance function in Ballymena.

The Company

Our client is one of Northern Ireland's leading and most successful hospitality groups, with an expanding portfolio of high-profile hotels, resorts and hospitality businesses across the region.

As part of the continued growth of the Group, they are now looking to appoint a recently qualified accountant who is looking to take a genuine step forward in their career.

The Role

Reporting into the Group Finance function, the Qualified Accountant will initially take ownership of the finance function for one of the Group's established hospitality businesses.

The role will be responsible for:

• Preparing monthly management accounts and weekly financial reporting
• Managing VAT returns and balance sheet reconciliations
• Completing relevant statutory and tax returns
• Taking full ownership of finance processes for the business
• Working closely with the General Manager and COO as a finance business partner
• Analysing financial performance and investigating significant movements
• Identifying gaps, anomalies and areas requiring further investigation
• Providing commercial insight and explaining the story behind the numbers

The Person

The successful Qualified Accountant will meet the following criteria:

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified
• Recently qualified, ideally having recently completed a professional training contract
• Strong technical accounting fundamentals
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Commercially curious with a genuine interest in understanding business performance
• Comfortable working with senior operational stakeholders
• Able to take ownership and work independently
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ambitious and motivated to progress their career
• Excellent work ethic with a willingness to learn and develop

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take on progressively greater responsibility across the wider Group as their experience develops, making this an excellent platform for someone with long-term aspirations towards senior finance leadership or Finance Director level.
