Junior QA Tester (Hardware and Digital Signage) | Belfast | £25,000 - £35,000

Who we are
We are a global technology business building interactive displays and digital signage used in schools, universities and workplaces around the world. Our Belfast team owns the platform behind the screens and the hardware that runs it. It is a small, close-knit team of developers and testers with free on-site parking and none of the layers you would find in a larger organisation, and we work in continuous development rather than fixed sprint cycles, so things move quickly and priorities change.

What we're looking for
This is a role for someone early in their testing career, or someone technically curious looking to move into QA properly. We care far more about mindset than about years on a CV.
What we really want is someone genuinely interested in how things work. You will be handed a piece of hardware nobody in the business has tested yet and trusted to work out where to start. The best testers here do not just check that a video plays, they build deliberately awkward setups, layering multiple videos, text and unusual layouts, and push the system until something breaks, because that is how you find out where the real hardware and playback limits are. If you are the sort of person who instinctively tries to break things, you will enjoy this.
Alongside that we are looking for strong attention to detail, a methodical approach, and the willingness to work things out for yourself rather than wait to be told. Manual QA experience is a big plus. Hardware experience is not essential, and we are happy to teach the process where the interest and the mindset are already there.

What you'll be doing
Manually testing our signage platform before it reaches customers, across content scheduling, playlists, kiosk journeys and meeting room panels
Getting hands on with new Android and Windows devices arriving from vendors, checking build quality and how they perform under load
Building complex, layered content setups and stress-testing them to find where playback breaks down
Watching content run on large-format screens and spotting the dropped frame or glitch a casual look would miss
Writing up clear, reproducible bug reports and talking them through with the team

Nice to have
Any exposure to Jira or a similar issue-tracking tool
Familiarity with Android devices, or with Linux and Raspberry Pi
Any scripting at all, in Python or otherwise, even self-taught
A creative streak, whether that is design, Photoshop, video editing or something else entirely

This role is office based in Belfast, with potential for hybrid longer term.
