MCS are partnering with a leading public sector organisation to recruit a Project Manager. This is a dynamic role supporting the delivery of the organisation's Digital, Data and Technology Strategy 2024-2030 to modernise legacy technologies and build a digitally agile workforce.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Planning & Implementation: Assisting in developing project plans, user acceptance testing (UAT) plans, data migration strategies, and managing RAID/change logs and documentation throughout the project life-cycle.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: Serving as a main point of contact for contractors, liaising with internal and external stakeholders, and managing system roll-out training plans.
  • Governance & Data Management: Supporting Project and Programme Boards, tracking risks and issues, preparing governance materials, and ensuring compliance with GDPR and data protection protocols.
  • Finance & Budget Management: Assisting with project budget monitoring, spend tracking against business case approvals, and financial compliance.
  • Project Support & Deputising: Managing project delivery resources, capturing lessons learned, and deputising for the Project Lead when required.

Essential Criteria

Candidates must meet the following requirements by the closing date to be considered for the role:

  • Possess a Level 6 qualification (e.g., Degree or equivalent) in Business Management, Project Management, IT, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, plus at least 1 year of experience in a project support/coordination role for Digital/IT projects.
  • Hold a full, current UK/EU driving licence with access to a car for official business (or access to a form of personal transport enabling full fulfilment of job duties).

Core Requirements

  • Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure to achieve key outcomes.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written) with the ability to build collaborative relationships and influence senior management.
  • High IT literacy, specifically with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and Management Information Systems.
