Principal Product Designer | Northern Ireland | Up to £90,000

Want to design products that make genuinely complex technology easier for people to use?

I'm partnering with a growing technology business to find a Principal Product Designer for a hands-on role with significant product ownership. You'll lead the user experience for a dedicated product line, working on sophisticated software used in environments where clarity, security and reliability matter.

This is an opportunity to get close to the product and make a visible impact. You'll work alongside product managers and engineering leads to understand user needs, untangle complicated workflows and turn them into thoughtful, usable experiences. You'll have the space to set a strong design direction while remaining involved in the detail of the work.

The business is at an exciting stage of growth, and design has an important part to play in where its products go next. You'll help shape design thinking across the wider team, but this is an individual contributor role with no direct reports initially. There's potential for it to develop into a design lead position in the future.

What you'll be doing

• Owning the user experience for a complex product line, from early discovery through to delivery.

• Working with product and engineering to understand technical constraints, customer needs and business priorities.

• Making dense information and complicated tasks easier for users to navigate and act on.

• Developing clear user journeys, interaction patterns and product designs that work across connected workflows.

• Explaining the thinking behind your decisions and helping teams make sound product trade-offs.

• Contributing to the quality and consistency of design across the wider product team.

What you'll bring

You'll have substantial product design experience, ideally with complex, data-heavy enterprise software. You'll be comfortable taking ownership without needing a detailed brief, asking the right questions and working through ambiguity with product and engineering colleagues.

You should be able to show how you've simplified difficult workflows, balanced user needs with technical realities and taken designs through to a shipped product. Your portfolio should make your own contribution and decision-making clear.

Experience with applied AI, data ingestion or management, knowledge graphs, or enterprise user management would be particularly relevant. Experience in B2B software or products with demanding security requirements would also be valuable.

Package and working pattern

• Salary up to £90,000

• Four-day working weeks throughout the year

• Last Friday of every month
