IT Systems Engineer

BBBH66415
  • £40000.00 - £50000.00 per annum
  • Northern Ireland
  • Permanent

MCS Group is working with an international technology business as they look to appoint an IT Systems Engineer to take ownership of their internal IT environment and support the next stage of their growth.

This is an opportunity for an IT Support professional with a strong background in IT infrastructure, systems administration or technical support who wants greater responsibility, autonomy and the opportunity to develop their skills across cloud infrastructure, DevOps and automation.

We're not looking for someone who simply wants to manage a helpdesk. We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, improving systems and taking ownership of how technology operates across a business.

You'll be joining a relatively small, technically focused organisation (in a super interesting domain) with an international workforce, working closely with colleagues across engineering and technology.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • Remote working from Northern Ireland.

  • Genuine ownership of the internal IT environment, with the autonomy to make improvements and influence decisions.

  • Exposure to international engineering teams and modern technologies.

  • Opportunity to develop your skills into cloud infrastructure, DevOps and automation.

  • Join a growing technology business where your contribution will be properly visible and valued.

The Role

  • The Systems Engineer will take ownership of day-to-day internal IT operations, ensuring systems, devices and infrastructure are secure, reliable and fit for purpose.

  • You'll review existing IT processes and introduce improvements across governance, security, access management and internal policies.

  • Manage employee onboarding and offboarding, including account provisioning, permissions, equipment and system access.

  • Troubleshoot technical issues across hardware, software, networking and cloud-based systems.

  • Work closely with international engineering colleagues on infrastructure improvements, automation and DevOps initiatives.

  • Support the business as it scales, helping to introduce more structured, efficient and secure ways of working.

  • Gain exposure to cloud technologies, DevOps practices and emerging areas such as AI-driven automation.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in IT support, systems administration, infrastructure engineering or a similar technical role.

  • Good understanding of IT infrastructure, networking, operating systems and user administration.

  • Experience supporting cloud-based business environments and managing identity, access and security.

  • An interest in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, scripting or automation, with a willingness to develop in these areas.

  • Someone comfortable working independently, taking responsibility and identifying areas for improvement.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across different locations and time zones.

  • Eligibility for UK Security Clearance would be advantageous.

Salary

  • Up to £50,000 depending on experience
