Working as part of an evolving Digital Systems team, you will play a key role in supporting and developing the organisation's infrastructure across multiple UK and international locations.

The position offers a strong combination of hands-on technical engineering, complex troubleshooting, infrastructure projects and continuous improvement, with the opportunity to influence how systems and services are developed moving forward.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Digital Systems, you will be responsible for maintaining, supporting and improving a diverse infrastructure environment spanning on-premise, cloud and hybrid technologies.

You will act as a senior technical escalation point for complex issues while contributing to infrastructure modernisation, security improvements and wider digital transformation initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide 3rd line technical support and act as an escalation point for complex infrastructure, networking and systems issues.

  • Manage, maintain and optimise Windows Server, Microsoft Azure and VMware environments.

  • Support and administer Microsoft 365 technologies, including Entra ID, Intune, Exchange Online, Teams and SharePoint.

  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, networking, identity and application issues, identifying root causes and implementing long-term solutions.

  • Support infrastructure improvement projects, system upgrades, migrations and the implementation of new technologies.

  • Monitor infrastructure performance, availability and security, identifying opportunities to improve resilience and reliability.

  • Manage system patching, configuration, maintenance and lifecycle activities across the infrastructure estate.

  • Work closely with the wider IT team to improve technical standards, processes and service delivery.

  • Contribute to automation, standardisation and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and service desk colleagues.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Windows Server environments.

  • Experience administering and supporting Microsoft Azure and hybrid infrastructure.

  • Strong knowledge of VMware and virtualised environments.

  • Experience across Microsoft 365, including Entra ID, Exchange Online and related services.

  • Solid networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs and general network troubleshooting.

  • Experience investigating and resolving complex infrastructure and systems issues.

  • A recognised infrastructure or networking qualification, such as Microsoft, Cisco or equivalent.
