Infrastructure & Cloud Operations Engineer
Dublin | Hybrid | Initial 6-Month Daily Rate Contract
MCS Group is recruiting an experienced Infrastructure & Cloud Operations Engineer for an initial six-month day-rate contract.
This is a broad, hands-on infrastructure role supporting a modern enterprise environment across on-prem infrastructure, Microsoft 365, Azure, networking, storage and virtualisation. You'll work closely with cloud, security, service desk and applications teams to maintain secure, stable and scalable services, while supporting wider infrastructure modernisation projects.
The role
Support and maintain on-prem and cloud infrastructure, including servers, storage, virtualisation and networks.
Administer and improve Azure services including VMs, storage, networking, identity, RBAC and security controls.
Support Microsoft 365 services including Teams, SharePoint, Exchange Online, OneDrive, Intune and Entra ID.
Manage Conditional Access, MFA, device compliance and modern workplace services.
Monitor infrastructure performance, capacity and availability, identifying improvements to strengthen resilience.
Complete patching, upgrades and configuration changes in line with change management processes.
Act as an escalation point for complex Tier 1 and Tier 2 infrastructure issues.
Support cloud migration, infrastructure upgrades and wider technology transformation initiatives.
Work with third-party technology providers where required.
Support vulnerability remediation, security controls and Zero Trust initiatives.
Maintain technical documentation, runbooks and support guides.
What we're looking for
Strong experience in infrastructure engineering or technical operations within a complex environment.
Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP.
Hands-on Microsoft 365 experience across Teams, Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Intune and Entra ID.
Good Azure infrastructure experience, including networking, identity and security.
Experience with VMware, storage, backup technologies and core compute environments.
Solid networking knowledge across LAN/WAN, routing, switching and firewalls.
Experience working within ITIL-led incident, problem and change management processes.
A proactive, customer-focused engineer who can troubleshoot complex issues and work independently.
Nice to have
Azure certification such as AZ-104 or AZ-800.
Microsoft 365 Administrator certification.
PowerShell scripting or automation experience.
Exposure to Azure Landing Zones, AKS, CI/CD, GitHub Enterprise or Infrastructure as Code.
Experience supporting Microsoft Defender, Conditional Access or Zero Trust environments.
