ICT Field Service Engineer
Location: Co Louth, Ireland
Travel: Regular travel to customer sites required
An established software company is looking for an ICT Field Service Engineer to join its customer support and infrastructure team. You'll provide remote and onsite technical support, help deliver customer projects and maintain reliable, secure IT environments.
This role will suit an experienced support or infrastructure engineer who enjoys troubleshooting, working directly with customers and supporting a varied range of technologies.
What you'll do
- Provide remote and onsite support across customer infrastructure, networks, servers and Microsoft 365 environments.
- Take ownership of technical issues, from diagnosis through to resolution.
- Install, configure and maintain servers, virtual environments, networking equipment and related infrastructure.
- Support backup, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions.
- Monitor systems, carry out proactive maintenance and recommend improvements.
- Assist with infrastructure upgrades, migrations and customer projects.
- Keep technical documentation and customer records accurate and up to date.
- Work with customers, colleagues and vendors to deliver a reliable support service.
- Apply security best practices, including patching, access controls, MFA and endpoint protection.
What you'll bring
- At least two years' experience in an ICT support, infrastructure or engineering role.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Desktop and Windows Server environments.
- Experience administering Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online.
- A good understanding of networking, including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, firewalls and VPNs.
- Experience with Active Directory, DNS and DHCP.
- Familiarity with virtualisation and backup technologies.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and a practical approach to problem-solving.
- Clear communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
- The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- A full, clean driving licence.
Experience with Azure, Hyper-V or VMware, backup and recovery platforms, endpoint or email security, network monitoring, firewalls, VPNs, scripting or cybersecurity would be an advantage.
