HR Manager - Construction - Newly created role
£55,000 - £60,000 | Belfast
MCS Group is delighted to be working with a leading construction organisation as they appoint their first dedicated HR professional.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing business at an important stage of its development. With an established presence across the UK and a strong pipeline of projects, the organisation is looking to bring in an experienced HR professional who can establish and develop the HR function, working closely with the senior leadership team.
The Role
As the first dedicated HR hire, you will have genuine ownership and autonomy to build the HR function from the ground up. You will provide practical, commercially focused HR support across the business, while establishing the policies, processes and infrastructure required to support continued growth.
The role will cover a broad range of HR activity, including employee relations, employment legislation and compliance, recruitment and onboarding, HR policies and processes, employee engagement and supporting managers across the employee lifecycle.
Importantly, this role has significant future potential. The business has ambitious growth plans over the next two years, creating the opportunity for the successful candidate to grow with the organisation, take on increased responsibility and potentially develop the HR function and wider people team as the business scales.
This would suit an experienced HR Manager, HR Business Partner or strong HR Generalist who is comfortable working autonomously and is motivated by the opportunity to build and shape a function rather than inherit an established one.
What we're looking for
- Strong generalist HR experience, ideally within construction, engineering or manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and employee relations.
- Experience supporting and advising managers across a broad range of HR matters.
- Experience developing HR policies, processes and best practice.
- A pragmatic and commercially focused approach.
- The ability to work autonomously and build strong relationships across the business.
- Experience of setting up a HR department would be highly advantageous
- CIPD qualification or equivalent experience is desirable.
What's on offer?
- Salary of £55,000 - £65,000
- Monday-Thursday: 8:30am - 5:00pm
- Friday: 8:30am - 1:00pm
- Private healthcare after one year's service
- Death in Service
- Significant autonomy and ownership
- On-site working
- Opportunity to build and shape the HR function
- Close exposure to the senior leadership team
- Clear potential for the role and level of responsibility to grow alongside the business
- Opportunity to play a key role in a high-growth construction organisation
