MCS Group are proud to be partnering with a leading public sector organisation in their search for a Health & Safety Advisor. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Health & Safety professional to join an established organisation and provide practical advice and guidance across a varied working environment.

The Role:

As Health & Safety Advisor, you will:

  • Provide practical Health & Safety advice and guidance to managers and employees across the organisation.
  • Support the development, implementation and review of Health & Safety policies, procedures and arrangements.
  • Ensure Health & Safety practices remain aligned with relevant legislation, best practice and organisational priorities.
  • Work closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including Line Managers and Trade Union Representatives.
  • Support the organisation in identifying and managing Health & Safety risks and promoting a positive safety culture.
  • Provide advice on Health & Safety matters and work towards achieving practical and successful outcomes.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of Health & Safety systems, processes and practices.
  • Work effectively within a large, multi-disciplinary organisation, building strong relationships across different areas of the service.
  • Undertake duties flexibly where required, including occasional evening, weekend or public holiday working in line with the needs of the service.

The Person:

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

Essential:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification.
  • A NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
  • 2 years' relevant Health & Safety experience within a Health & Safety Officer/Advisor role.
  • Candidates without the required academic qualification may be considered with 4 years' relevant experience.
  • Experience working within a large, multi-disciplinary organisation.
  • A proven track record of providing practical Health & Safety advice and guidance with successful outcomes.
  • Experience working effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including Line Managers and Trade Union Representatives.
  • Experience developing and implementing Health & Safety policies and procedures in line with legislation and best practice.
  • A full current UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, or access to suitable transport to fulfil the duties of the post.
