Head of Financial Management

Join a busy Finance Directorate where you'll provide strategic financial management support, work closely with senior stakeholders, and play a key role in delivering high-quality financial information, forecasting and advice across the organisation.

MCS Group are proud to be partnering with a public sector organisation in their search for a Senior Financial Management Accountant. This role is ideal for a qualified accountant with strong financial management experience, excellent stakeholder management skills and a proven ability to lead teams and improve services.

The Role:

* Provide comprehensive financial management support, including monthly reporting, variance analysis and forecasting.

* Provide specialist financial advice and guidance to senior management and budget holders.

* Support financial planning, scenario planning and the costing of service developments.

* Identify financial risks and advise senior stakeholders on the potential impact of key decisions.

* Support the development of financial management strategies, policies and processes.

* Lead and develop a small team, ensuring high-quality financial information and service delivery.

* Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and contribute to continuous improvement across the Finance Directorate.

The Person

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

Essential:

* Full membership of a recognised professional accountancy body, such as ICAEW, ICAI, CIPFA, CIMA, ICAS or ACCA.

* Experience providing financial management or financial accounting information and advice to internal or external stakeholders, including post-qualification experience in a management role.

* A proven track record of delivering against targets and making significant improvements to systems and/or service delivery.

* Strong knowledge and experience of financial management and/or statutory financial information and advice, including areas such as monthly or annual accounts, budgets, financial projections and statutory returns.

* Strong leadership skills and the ability to develop, support and manage a team effectively.

What's in it for you?

* Salary: £55,000 - £62,000 per annum

* 37.5 hours per week
