Financial Accountant

Are you a qualified accountant looking to take the next step in your career? MCS Group are partnering with a large public sector organisation to recruit a Financial Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your financial reporting and technical accounting expertise across statutory accounts, year-end reporting and audit processes, with applications welcomed from qualified accountants across all sectors.

The Role:

· Take ownership of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting processes, ensuring accurate and timely delivery.

· Support the preparation of annual financial statements, statutory returns and audit documentation.

· Liaise with external auditors, responding to queries and resolving financial reporting issues.

· Provide technical accounting advice, interpreting relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

· Oversee financial reporting for designated subsidiaries and related entities, including management accounts and statutory accounts.

· Maintain effective financial controls, balance sheet reconciliations and accurate financial records, identifying opportunities to improve processes and systems.

· Build relationships with senior stakeholders, contribute to finance projects and support colleagues within the team.

The Person

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

Essential:

· Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent).

· Significant post-qualification experience in financial accounting, reporting or audit, including preparing statutory accounts.

· Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience liaising with external auditors.

· Experience using integrated finance systems and advanced Excel skills.

· Excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and engage with senior stakeholders.
