Temporary Finance Officer
Are you an experienced finance professional looking for a temporary opportunity within a public sector organisation? MCS Group are delighted to be recruiting for a Temporary Finance Officer (EO2) on behalf of the Consumer Council for Northern Ireland.
The Organisation
The Consumer Council for Northern Ireland is a non-departmental public body that represents the interests of consumers across Northern Ireland. The organisation works to ensure consumer rights are protected and promoted, providing independent advice, advocacy and research across key areas including energy, transport, water and postal services.
The Role
As Temporary Finance Officer, you will provide support across a range of core finance processes, helping to ensure invoices, payments, reconciliations and financial information are processed accurately and within required timescales.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and respond to finance email queries, ensuring outstanding mailbox items are kept to a minimum.
- Review purchase orders for completeness prior to upload to Sage 200.
- Process financial information onto Sage 200, including supplier invoices and weekly payment runs.
- Ensure invoices are paid and complete the monthly prompt payment report.
- Prepare monthly bank and credit card reconciliations, alongside the monthly reconciliation of Access IT equipment and laptops.
- Assist with timely monthly and ad hoc returns to meet requirements set by the Department for the Economy and other external agencies.
- Support annual Internal and External Audit requirements, maintain the Contracts Database, respond to ad hoc queries from staff and external stakeholders, and undertake general office administration as required.
The Person
As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience:
Essential:
- Experience of inputting and processing purchase invoices.
- Experience of completing bank reconciliations.
- Demonstrable experience using MS Excel, including formulae and functions, and MS Word, or equivalent.
- GCSE/GCE 'O' Level at grade C or above in three subjects, including English Language and Maths.
Desirable:
- Experience of using Sage 200 accounting software.
