Band 5 Finance Officer

Ready to take the next step as a Band 5 Finance Officer within the HSCT? This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy Finance team, supporting effective financial management across the organisation and providing high-quality financial information and advice to senior Trust staff.

MCS Group are proud to be partnering with a leading public sector healthcare organisation in their search for a Band 5 Finance Officer. This role is ideal for a finance professional with strong analytical skills and relevant financial experience who enjoys working with stakeholders, analysing financial data and contributing to effective financial management and service delivery.

The Role:

* Liaise with and meet senior Trust staff to assist with their understanding of budgets and respond to finance-related queries.

* Assist with the annual budget-setting process, working within agreed guidelines and timetables and helping to ensure budgets reflect the Trust's financial strategy and income profile.

* Assist the Band 7 Finance Officer with the development of cash-releasing efficiency plans, recovery plans and contingency plans for the directorate.

* Support the Finance Manager in the early identification of threats to the financial stability of the Trust, highlighting financial risks and agreeing appropriate rectification measures to help ensure break even is achieved.

* Assist in developing and improving the use of financial systems, reporting and enquiry tools and working methods to enhance the quality and efficiency of financial management information.

* Produce and analyse financial information to support effective decision-making and financial management across the directorate.

* Provide ad hoc financial reporting and respond to enquiries from Senior Finance Managers and other senior Trust staff as required.

* Investigate financial variances and support the preparation and understanding of management accounts where required.

The Person

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

Essential:

* A university degree and 2 years' suitable relevant financial experience; or

* AAT/HND qualification and 2 years' suitable relevant financial experience; or

* Part-qualified with one of the CCAB recognised accountancy bodies and 1 year's suitable relevant financial experience; or

* 3 years' suitable relevant financial experience at Band 4 level.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.

* Competent use of Microsoft Excel, including the ability to manipulate large volumes of data using a wide range of functions and provide meaningful analysis.

* A confident understanding of core accounting principles, including accruals, prepayments and related financial processes.

* Ability to manage workload effectively and meet departmental deadlines.
