Are you an experienced qualified finance professional looking for an opportunity within a leading public sector and cultural organisation? MCS Group are delighted to be recruiting for an interim Finance and Governance Manager on behalf of National Museums NI.
The Organisation
National Museums NI is a leading cultural institution responsible for developing, caring for and making its significant collections accessible to the widest possible audience. Welcoming around 900,000 visitors each year across its museums, the organisation plays an important role in Northern Ireland's cultural, social and economic wellbeing.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Finance & Governance, the successful candidate will play a key leadership role within the Finance & Governance team, supporting the effective management of the organisation's finance and governance affairs while providing a business partnering service to the wider organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day running of the Accounting function, ensuring effective systems, processes, controls and procedures are in place.
- Oversee the Payroll & Pensions function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of information.
- Support compliance with statutory requirements, financial procedures and the effective management of public funds.
- Provide financial accounting, audit, risk management and governance guidance across the organisation.
- Assist with internal and external audit processes, including audit strategies and fieldwork, and oversee the preparation of annual accounts and financial reporting.
- Provide a business partnering service to colleagues across the organisation and support quarterly governance meetings with senior management.
- Provide professional management, mentoring and advice to finance and payroll staff, while promoting team working, continuous improvement and high performance.
The Person
As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience:
Essential:
- Be a fully qualified and current member of a recognised professional accountancy body, such as ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or a recognised Chartered Accountancy Institute.
- Possess post-qualification experience across financial statements, management accounting, budgeting and financial performance reporting.
- Experience preparing or auditing year-end accounts for an organisation with a budget in excess of £10m.
- Experience in strategic planning, decision support and the production of reports for management or committees.
- Experience leading, managing and motivating staff to achieve individual and team objectives.
- Demonstrable experience working in a business partnering role with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience supporting finance services within a complex organisation.
