Salary: £50,000
Working Pattern: 5 days onsite
Contract: Permanent

MCS Group is delighted to be partnering with a leading global financial services organisation as they seek to recruit a Senior IT Support Engineer to join their Belfast technology team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced IT Support Engineer who enjoys hands-on technical troubleshooting, resolving complex incidents and delivering high-quality support within a fast-paced, professional environment.

Supporting approximately 400 users in Belfast, you'll play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of end-user technology, working closely with infrastructure, networking and specialist technology teams across a global organisation.

The successful candidate will bring strong Windows and Microsoft support experience, a solid understanding of IT infrastructure and the confidence to take ownership of technical issues from initial diagnosis through to resolution.

The Role

As a Senior IT Support Engineer, you'll provide advanced technical support across a busy Belfast office, acting as a key point of contact for complex incidents and technical escalations.

This is a hands-on engineering position, offering significant technical responsibility without formal people management duties.

You'll work within a collaborative global technology function, supporting users across a range of Microsoft technologies, business applications, hardware and infrastructure environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality 2nd and 3rd line technical support across Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, Active Directory and SCCM environments.

  • Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, application and connectivity issues, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.

  • Take ownership of technical incidents from initial investigation through to resolution, coordinating with specialist teams where required.

  • Support desktops, laptops, mobile devices, peripherals, meeting room technologies and other end-user equipment.

  • Troubleshoot infrastructure-related issues, including network connectivity, server infrastructure and associated hardware.

  • Work closely with networking, server and infrastructure teams to investigate and resolve more complex technical problems.

  • Manage incidents and service requests through ServiceNow, ensuring accurate documentation, appropriate escalation and regular communication.

  • Provide professional technical support to senior stakeholders, maintaining clear communication during priority incidents.

  • Support the implementation of new technologies, infrastructure changes and continuous service improvements.

  • Collaborate with colleagues across international offices, sharing technical knowledge and supporting wider operational requirements.

What We're Looking For

We're keen to speak with experienced IT Support Engineers who have developed strong technical capabilities across end-user computing and infrastructure support.

Essential Experience:

  • Approximately 3-5 years' experience within IT Support, Desktop Support, End User Computing or a similar technical engineering position.

  • Strong hands-on experience supporting Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365 and Active Directory.

  • Experience working with SCCM / Microsoft Configuration Manager.

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical incidents across hardware, software, applications and connectivity.

  • A solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, Ethernet and general network connectivity.

  • Good working knowledge of IT infrastructure, including servers, network devices and associated hardware.

  • Experience working with IT service management platforms such as ServiceNow.

  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to support users and senior stakeholders.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple technical issues.

  • A proactive approach to troubleshooting, taking ownership of problems and working collaboratively to achieve resolutions.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience supporting users within financial services, professional services or another fast-paced corporate environment.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Intune, endpoint management and mobile device support.

  • Exposure to server infrastructure, networking equipment and server room environments.

  • Experience with Cisco technologies, network troubleshooting or relevant Microsoft Server technologies.

  • Knowledge of PowerShell scripting and automation.

  • Experience supporting Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex or other AV and collaboration technologies.

  • Familiarity with Bloomberg or other financial market applications.

  • Relevant Microsoft, Cisco or ITIL certifications.

Previous financial services experience is not essential. The organisation is particularly interested in candidates with strong technical fundamentals, excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to learn new technologies and applications.

What's On Offer?

  • Competitive salary of up to £50,000.

  • Opportunity to join a leading global financial services organisation.

  • Exposure to a broad range of Microsoft, infrastructure and enterprise technologies.

  • A technically varied role supporting approximately 400 users within a busy corporate environment.

  • Collaboration with experienced infrastructure, networking and technology specialists across international offices.

  • Opportunity to develop technical expertise and gain exposure to complex enterprise systems.

  • A supportive, collaborative environment with a strong emphasis on knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
