Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Hours: Monday-Thursday 8am-5pm; Friday 8am-3pm
MCS Group is partnering with a growing engineering and project-delivery organisation as it appoints a Digital Transformation & Automation Manager.
This is a newly created senior position with responsibility for shaping the organisation's digital transformation roadmap, advising senior leadership on technology investments and leading major business systems and automation initiatives.
You will work closely with directors and operational leaders to identify opportunities, develop robust business cases and deliver improvements from initial concept through implementation and adoption. You will also lead and develop the organisation's Business Systems & Automation capability.

The role


You will:

  • Develop and maintain a company-wide digital transformation roadmap.
  • Assess existing systems, processes and technologies to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Prepare business cases covering costs, benefits, risks and expected value.
  • Present clear technology and investment recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Lead business systems, automation and transformation projects from concept through delivery.
  • Drive practical use of Microsoft Power Platform, Copilot, AI and low-code technologies.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual work and improve operational visibility.
  • Establish appropriate standards and governance for automation solutions.
  • Manage project plans, budgets, resources, risks and dependencies.
  • Support organisational change and the successful adoption of new systems.
  • Lead, mentor and develop the Business Systems & Automation team.

The person


You will ideally bring:

  • Significant experience leading digital transformation, business systems or process-improvement initiatives.
  • A strong record of developing technology investment cases for director-level approval.
  • End-to-end project or programme delivery experience, including budgets, resources and risk management.
  • Direct people-management and team-development experience.
  • Practical experience with Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI, Copilot or comparable automation technologies.
  • Experience evaluating business systems and identifying upgrade, consolidation or replacement opportunities.
  • Strong change-management and user-adoption experience.
  • The ability to translate technical options into clear commercial recommendations.
  • A relevant degree, professional qualification or equivalent practical experience.


Experience within construction, engineering, manufacturing or another project-based environment would be advantageous. Exposure to ERP, document management, reporting or operational systems projects would also be beneficial.
