Company Accountant

MCS Group are delighted to be partnering with a growing Northern Ireland business as they look to appoint a Company Accountant to join their established finance team in Banbridge.

The Company

Our client is a growing Northern Ireland-based private business with a diverse portfolio of commercial interests and strong links across a wider group of companies. With continued growth across the business, they are now looking to strengthen their finance function with the appointment of a Company Accountant.

This is a newly created position, with a number of the responsibilities previously sitting with the Financial Controller. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, this role offers an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant to take ownership of a broad remit and play a key role within a growing finance function.

The business is open to candidates from a range of backgrounds, with manufacturing experience particularly advantageous. Practice-trained candidates with relevant experience will also be considered.

The Rewards

As the successful Company Accountant, you will receive:

• £45,000 - £55,000 salary
• Potential for contract extension beyond the initial 6 months

• Broad exposure and the opportunity to take ownership of responsibilities previously managed by the Financial Controller

The Role

Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, the Company Accountant will be responsible for:

• Preparing accurate and timely monthly management accounts
• Supporting the preparation of budgets, forecasts and financial reporting
• Managing month-end processes and ensuring financial information is accurate and delivered on time
• Supporting the Financial Controller with statutory and year-end reporting requirements
• Producing financial analysis and reporting to support business decision-making
• Maintaining strong financial controls and ensuring compliance with accounting procedures

The Person

The successful Company Accountant will meet the following criteria:

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, although strong QBE candidates will also be considered
• Previous experience within a commercial finance environment
• Manufacturing experience would be highly advantageous
• Practice-trained candidates with relevant experience will also be considered
• Strong technical accounting and management accounts experience
