AI and Automation Engineer (Fixed Term Contract)

MCS Group is looking for a practical, technically minded engineer to help improve how a business operates through automation, system integrations and the use of AI. Working closely with the CTO and teams across the organisation, you'll identify opportunities to reduce manual processes, connect existing systems and build tools that make everyday tasks quicker and more efficient.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving problems, exploring unfamiliar technologies and taking an idea from initial concept through to a working solution.

Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, Power Automate, Azure or other Microsoft technologies would be useful, but the role would also be suitable for candidates from different development and automation backgrounds.

The key is being able to understand a business problem and build something that genuinely improves how people work.

The Role

• Build automations and integrations between existing business systems.
• Identify opportunities to apply AI tools to everyday business processes.
• Develop workflows to streamline administrative, finance, sales and operational tasks.
• Work with SQL and data from multiple sources to support reporting and analysis.
• Build dashboards and automate regular reporting.
• Explore opportunities for AI-powered document processing, information extraction and internal tools.
• Test, deploy and support solutions, ensuring they are practical and adopted by users.
• Work with teams across the business to understand challenges and turn them into technical solutions.

The Person

• Experience in automation, software development, business systems, integrations or a similar technical role.
• Hands-on experience building automations, workflows or internal business tools.
• Comfortable working with APIs, databases, SQL and data from different sources.
• An interest in applying AI to solve practical business problems.
• Resourceful and confident investigating unfamiliar systems and technologies.
• Able to work independently, understand business requirements and deliver working solutions.
• Strong communication skills and comfortable working directly with technical and non-technical teams.

Duration: 12 month fixed term contract
Location: On-Site - Belfast City Centre
Salary: £45k - £60k DOE
