We are currently recruiting for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join a leading public sector organisation on an initial 2-month interim assignment based in Ballymena.

This is an excellent opportunity for a health and safety professional to support the delivery of the corporate Health & Safety function, providing expert advice and guidance across a large, multi-disciplinary organisation while ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation and best practice.

The Role

Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, you will:

  • Provide practical health and safety advice and guidance to managers and employees.
  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the Corporate Health & Safety Framework.
  • Conduct workplace inspections, audits and health and safety investigations, producing reports and recommendations.
  • Assist with the development and delivery of health and safety training and employee induction.
  • Support the management of health and safety systems, performance reporting and key performance indicators.
  • Develop and review health and safety policies, procedures and initiatives in line with legislative requirements.
  • Liaise with a wide range of stakeholders, including managers, HR and Trade Union representatives, to promote a positive health and safety culture.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must have:

  • A degree (or equivalent qualification).
  • A NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent).

AND

Be able to demonstrate 2 years' experience in a Health & Safety Officer role, including:

  • Working within a large multi-disciplinary organisation.
  • Providing practical health and safety advice and guidance.
  • Working effectively with a range of stakeholders, including Line Managers and Trade Union Representatives.
  • Developing and implementing health and safety policies and procedures in line with legislation and best practice.

Alternatively, applicants who do not hold the required academic qualification must be able to demonstrate 4 years' relevant Health & Safety Officer experience across the areas above.

In addition, candidates must:

  • Hold a full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle, or have access to suitable transport to meet the requirements of the role.
