Finance Analyst

MCS Group is delighted to be recruiting for a temporary Finance Analyst position on behalf of the Northern Health and Social Care Trust. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional to join a busy Financial Management team and provide high-quality financial support, analysis and reporting.

The successful candidate will support the delivery of an effective Financial Management service, assisting with budget setting, financial reporting and budgetary control processes to ensure resources are managed effectively.

The Role

Reporting to the Assistant Accountant, you will assist with the development and maintenance of effective financial management systems, providing accurate financial information and supporting budget managers with the interpretation and monitoring of financial performance.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with the establishment, development and maintenance of effective budgetary control processes.
• Preparing and processing approved budget adjustments.
• Providing financial information and reports to relevant stakeholders.
• Developing and maintaining financial management reports for budget holders.
• Supporting monthly financial reporting, variance analysis and investigations.
• Liaising with budget managers to review financial performance and provide financial guidance.
• Assisting with financial planning, reconciliation processes and year-end procedures.
• Supporting the review and development of financial policies and procedures.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must demonstrate:

• 4 years' relevant finance experience,
  OR
• Diploma for Accounting Technicians (ATI) or equivalent (QCF Level 5) with 2 years' relevant finance experience,
  OR
• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Information Technology or another relevant discipline.

In addition, candidates must have:

• A current full driving licence valid for use in the UK and access to a car (unless an exemption applies).
• Working knowledge of advanced Microsoft Excel functions.
• Ability to analyse, interpret and present financial data from a range of sources.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to use initiative to identify issues and develop solutions.
