Support Accountant

Location: Ballymena (Hybrid/Flexible Working Available)

Salary Band: Band 7

Overview

An exciting opportunity for a qualified or part-qualified accountant to support financial management across a large and complex organisation. Working closely with senior finance colleagues, operational managers and budget holders, you will play a key role in delivering effective financial control, insightful reporting and supporting continuous service improvement.

This role offers exposure to senior stakeholders, strategic decision-making, budget setting, financial analysis and business partnering across multiple departments.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Business Partnering

  • Support the Divisional Accountant in maintaining effective financial control across allocated service areas.
  • Produce regular financial reports and analysis to support budgetary control and decision-making.
  • Assist with monthly financial reporting and forecasting processes.
  • Support managers in developing business cases, service developments and option appraisals.
  • Analyse and interpret complex financial and non-financial information to support operational and strategic decisions.
  • Identify financial risks and support the implementation of corrective actions.

Budget Setting & Control

  • Assist with annual budget setting and financial planning processes.
  • Produce meaningful income and expenditure reports for budget holders.
  • Support the development of improved financial reporting tools and processes.
  • Assist in identifying and delivering efficiency savings and value-for-money initiatives.
  • Monitor financial performance and contribute to forecasting year-end financial positions.

Financial Reporting

  • Support the preparation of management accounting information for year-end accounts.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requirements.
  • Contribute to financial performance reports for senior management and governance committees.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build strong relationships with budget holders, operational managers and senior stakeholders.
  • Provide financial advice and support to managers to help achieve service objectives within available resources.
  • Work collaboratively with finance colleagues to ensure accurate financial reporting and budget management.
