Senior Data Consultant

MCS Group is exclusively working with a leading software and services provider within the Financial and Regulatory space who is looking to hire a Senior Data Consultant to join its growing Client Delivery team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex client problems, working with data, and delivering high quality solutions in a fast paced, client facing environment.

The business partners with large multinational organisations and is continuing to scale through innovative technology and strong customer relationships. You'll play a key role in improving the quality, predictability and sustainability of client deliveries, while helping drive best practice across the wider team.

Reporting directly to the Client Programme Director, this role combines hands on technical delivery with stakeholder engagement, technical ownership and consultancy style problem solving.

The Role

You'll work across multiple client projects at any one time, supporting customers from initial discovery through to delivery and ongoing optimisation.

This role will suit someone who is confident working directly with clients, comfortable dealing with ambiguity, and able to translate complex data challenges into practical solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering analytics and reporting solutions using SQL and Power BI
• Running discovery sessions with clients to understand requirements and business structures
• Analysing complex or unclear datasets to identify the correct underlying data model
• Defining entities, hierarchies and relationships before build activity begins
• Importing, interrogating and transforming data from multiple client sources
• Setting up workflows and supporting solution builds using SQL
• Working closely with Project Managers across multiple live projects
• Supporting delivery planning, estimation and scope discussions
• Challenging unclear requirements or change requests where needed
• Acting as a senior escalation point for complex delivery or post-delivery issues
• Supporting demos, testing and occasional pre-sales activity
• Sharing best practice across data modelling and delivery processes

What We're Looking For

• Strong experience delivering analytics or BI solutions using SQL and Power BI
• Previous experience in a client facing consulting, implementation or B2B delivery environment
• Strong understanding of data modelling fundamentals including:
• entities and relationships
• hierarchies
• dimensional concepts
• Experience working with ambiguous or poorly structured client data
• Ability to ask the right discovery questions and challenge assumptions constructively
• Comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• A pragmatic, solutions focused approach to delivery

Salary

• Up to £60,000 plus benefits.
