The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a talented Second Line IT Support Engineer to join their growing technical team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced MSP professional who enjoys a varied role across cloud technologies, networking, infrastructure support and project delivery.
Working within a fast-paced managed services environment, you will provide 2nd and 3rd line technical support to a diverse customer base while playing a key role in infrastructure projects, cloud migrations and ongoing service improvement initiatives.
This position offers exposure to modern cloud technologies, hybrid environments and enterprise networking solutions, making it an ideal opportunity for someone looking to further develop their technical expertise.
The Role
As a Second Line IT Support Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality technical support across customer environments while ensuring service levels and customer expectations are consistently exceeded.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing 2nd and 3rd line support remotely and on-site across customer environments
- Managing incidents, service requests and problem tickets through ITSM platforms
- Prioritising workloads effectively while maintaining SLA and KPI performance targets
- Supporting and administering Microsoft Azure infrastructure
- Troubleshooting and maintaining network infrastructure across multiple client environments
- Acting as an escalation point for complex technical issues
- Delivering infrastructure projects, including cloud migrations and system upgrades
- Engaging directly with customers and stakeholders to provide technical guidance and support
- Monitoring and maintaining customer environments to ensure optimal performance and availability
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and service enhancements
What We're Looking For
Essential Experience
- Minimum 3 years' experience working within a Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment
- Minimum 3 years' experience supporting Microsoft Azure environments
- Minimum 3 years' networking experience
- Strong experience providing 2nd and 3rd line technical support
- Microsoft Azure administration experience, including:
- Virtual Machines
- Virtual Networks (VNETs)
- Network Security Groups (NSGs)
- Load Balancers
- Azure Storage
- Azure Active Directory / Entra ID administration
- Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments
- Windows Server administration experience
- Active Directory, DNS and DHCP administration
- Microsoft Exchange support experience
- Microsoft 365 administration, including SharePoint and Office 365
- Virtualisation experience using Hyper-V
- Strong understanding of network infrastructure, including:
- LAN/WAN technologies
- VPN connectivity
- Routing and switching concepts
- Wireless networking
- Broadband technologies
- Firewall administration experience, ideally SonicWall or equivalent platforms
Desirable Experience
- Experience with ConnectWise Manage, ConnectWise Automate or similar ITSM platforms
- Exposure to monitoring and alerting solutions
- Experience delivering cloud migration projects
- Backup and disaster recovery solution administration
- Previous mentoring or knowledge-sharing experience within a support team
Certifications
The following certifications would be highly advantageous:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)
