Learning & Development Manager - Growing Multi-Site Organisation

MCS Group is delighted to be partnering with a rapidly growing organisation as they seek to appoint an experienced Learning & Development Manager on a full-time permanent basis.

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious L&D professional to join an organisation undergoing significant growth and transformation. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the learning and development agenda, supporting workforce capability, and ensuring employees have the skills required to meet both current and future business needs.

The Role

Reporting into the wider People function, the successful candidate will lead the Learning & Development agenda for a growing operational business.

Key areas of focus will include:

  • Lead and manage all compliance, regulatory, and mandatory training requirements across the organisation.
  • Maintain training matrices, competency frameworks, and certification records, ensuring qualifications remain current and compliant.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards, ISO requirements, and client-specific training obligations.
  • Develop and implement technical, operational, and compliance training programmes to support business needs.
  • Partner with managers and business leaders to identify skills gaps and create structured learning and career development pathways.
  • Oversee on boarding and competency assessments to ensure employees are fully trained and authorised before commencing operational duties.
  • Manage training compliance reporting, KPIs, audits, and corrective actions to mitigate organisational risk.
  • Lead and support a dedicated Learning & Development team, driving high-quality learning delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external training providers to ensure training quality, accreditation, and business alignment.

The role will work closely with managers and stakeholders across the business to ensure employees have the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to support continued success.

The Successful Candidate

To be considered for this opportunity, you will demonstrate:

  • Proven Learning & Development experience, including leadership of training or L&D teams.
  • Experience within construction, engineering, MEP, manufacturing, or similar operational environments.
  • Strong knowledge of compliance training, certification requirements, and competency management.
  • Experience managing training matrices, certification records, and learning management systems (LMS).
  • Familiarity with ISO standards, regulatory requirements, and audit processes.
  • Experience developing career pathways, succession plans, and employee development programmes.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organisational, leadership, and team management capabilities.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
