HR Officer

Are you an HR professional, looking to take on a diverse, people-centred position? This opportunity will involve supporting employee relations, engagement initiatives, and day-to-day HR functions, while partnering with managers to foster a positive and productive workplace environment.

The Role

As HR Officer, you will work with both employees and managers across a wide variety of HR matters, with particular emphasis on employee relations, wellbeing, and engagement. You will deliver practical HR assistance, keep systems and records up to date, and play a key part in learning and development activities. This role suits someone organised, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently as well as within a wider HR team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for HR advice to managers and staff on employee relations matters, ensuring consistency and fairness.
  • Guide managers through absence management, disciplinary issues, grievance procedures, and performance concerns.
  • Help deliver staff engagement and wellbeing programmes, including events and internal messaging.
  • Coordinate training and development activity, arranging workshops and monitoring participation/completion.
  • Maintain HR systems, ensuring all employee data is accurate and processed promptly.
  • Oversee HR administration such as contracts, amendments to terms and conditions, and employee lifecycle paperwork.
  • Assist with onboarding and induction to create a strong experience for new starters.
  • Prepare HR reports and key metrics to aid business decisions and monitor workforce trends.
  • Ensure HR files and records remain accurate, compliant, and audit-ready.
  • Contribute to the review and enhancement of HR policies, procedures, and supporting documentation.
  • Build manager capability and confidence in effective people management practices.

The Ideal Candidate

  • CIPD qualified, or educated to third-level in a relevant discipline.
  • Previous experience in an HR assistant or officer role.
  • Good understanding of HR procedures, employment law, and best practice standards.
  • Excellent organisational ability with strong attention to detail.
  • Proactive, personable, and able to develop strong working relationships.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
