HR Assistant
We're looking for an HR Assistant to join our client's busy and supportive HR team. You'll help with the day-to-day running of the HR function, providing administrative support across recruitment, onboarding, employee records, and HR processes. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and wants to build their experience across a wide range of HR activities.
The role
As HR Assistant, you will work closely with managers, employees, and the wider HR team to deliver effective support across recruitment, onboarding, employee records, and HR administration. You will play a key part in maintaining accurate HR systems, coordinating recruitment processes, and responding to employee queries while ensuring confidentiality and compliance.
The main responsibilities
- Maintain and update employee information within the HR Information System, ensuring records remain accurate and current.
- Process new starters, employee departures, and contractual amendments.
- Monitor time and attendance records, resolving discrepancies such as missed clock-ins and clock-outs.
- Record and administer employee absences, including sickness, annual leave, and other authorised leave.
- Provide support throughout the recruitment cycle, including advertising vacancies, coordinating interviews, and assisting with candidate selection.
- Manage pre-employment checks, including references and right-to-work documentation.
- Assist with onboarding activities, preparing documentation and setting up HR systems for new employees.
- Maintain personnel files and carry out regular audits to ensure compliance with company procedures and data protection requirements.
- Prepare HR documentation, including contracts of employment, letters, and management reports.
- Respond to routine HR enquiries relating to leave, policies, and payroll matters, escalating complex issues where appropriate.
- Work alongside payroll colleagues to ensure employee and absence data is processed accurately.
- Handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
- Provide administrative assistance for HR initiatives, employee wellbeing programmes, and continuous improvement projects.
The ideal candidate
- CIPD or relevant third level qualification
- Previous experience within an HR Assistant or HR support role
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous experience using an HR Information System (HRIS) or similar database is desirable.
