MCS Group are proud to be partnering with a local government organisation in their search for an HR Officer. This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional to gain broad exposure across employee relations, recruitment, policy implementation, stakeholder management and HR projects, while supporting the delivery of a high-quality, customer-focused HR service.

The Role:

  • Manage a range of employee relations cases including absence, disciplinary, grievance, capability and tribunal matters.
  • Provide expert HR advice to managers on policy, legislation and best practice.
  • Coach and develop managers to effectively handle people management issues.
  • Lead recruitment and selection processes in line with equality and organisational policies.
  • Support the development and delivery of HR strategies, policies and workforce initiatives.
  • Build effective relationships with trade unions, legal advisors and key stakeholders
  • Deliver HR projects, training and continuous improvement activities across the organisation.

The Person

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

Essential:

  • Degree in any discipline with relevant HR experience, or extensive relevant HR experience.
  • Full CIPD membership (Associate or Chartered); willingness to achieve Chartered status within 2 years if not already held.
  • Experience advising managers on HR and employee relations matters.
  • Experience managing recruitment and selection processes.
  • Proven ability to build effective relationships with managers, trade unions and key stakeholders.
