Engineering Manager - Platform & DevOps

I'm working with an exciting start-up software company that is entering its next phase of growth and is looking to appoint an Engineering Manager to build and grow it's DevOps/Platform function.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who still enjoys being hands-on technically while taking ownership of a growing Platform team. Rather than stepping away from engineering, you'll continue solving complex technical problems while helping shape the team's technical direction.

You'll join a business with an established product and customer base, where the focus is now on building scalable engineering foundations to support future growth.

(Hybrid - Dublin City Centre - 4 days per week on-site)

The role...

You'll lead the Platform & DevOps function, working closely with engineering teams to improve cloud infrastructure, developer experience, security and platform reliability.

This is expected to be a highly hands-on role (around 80-90% technical initially), making it ideal for someone who enjoys writing code, solving infrastructure challenges and mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities...

• Lead and grow the Platform & DevOps team
• Design and improve cloud infrastructure and networking
• Build reusable platform capabilities and internal tooling
• Own CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code
• Drive platform reliability, scalability and security
• Improve observability and operational excellence
• Partner with engineering teams to enable faster, more reliable software delivery
• Recruit, mentor and develop engineers as the team grows

About you...

You'll likely come from a Software Engineering, Platform Engineering or DevOps background and enjoy operating across both infrastructure and application development.

You'll have experience with:

• AWS cloud technologies
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar)
• CI/CD pipelines
• Modern distributed applications
• Building scalable cloud platforms
• Coaching and mentoring engineers

Previous Engineering Manager experience is welcomed, but I'm equally keen to speak with experienced Senior or Lead Engineers who are ready to step into their first management position.
