Direct Tax Manager

Are you a tax professional ready to take on a strategic role where you can lead compliance and shape tax governance across a complex organisation?

We're recruiting on behalf of a large public sector organsation for a Direct Tax Manager to oversee corporation tax and employment tax matters, ensuring robust compliance while providing clear, up-to-date technical advice to support business decisions.

This is a great opportunity to gain exposure to a broad range of tax issues, work closely with stakeholders across the organisation, and lead on key initiatives, reporting, and projects while ensuring compliance with evolving legislation and regulatory requirements.

The role:

• Lead the Group's direct tax compliance, covering corporation tax and employment taxes.
• Manage tax computations, capital allowances claims, and reporting obligations.
• Oversee key deadlines, including quarterly payments and regulatory filings.
• Provide up-to-date, practical tax advice across the business and support new initiatives.
• Handle specialist areas such as off-payroll working, CIS, and PAYE-related calculations.
• Build strong internal relationships and liaise with external stakeholders, including tax authorities.
• Lead tax projects, support policy development, and ensure ongoing compliance with evolving legislation.

The Person

As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience:

Essential:

• CTA qualified with post-qualification experience in corporation and employment tax.
• Strong technical expertise in accounting and tax, particularly in corporation and employment tax.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel within a finance environment.
