This organisation is responsible for managing and developing Northern Ireland's electricity transmission system, playing a vital role in ensuring the secure, efficient flow of electricity while supporting the transition to a low-carbon future. Operating within a highly regulated and evolving sector, it sits at the centre of strategic energy developments across the region.

The role:

• Provide legal advice on regulatory and statutory obligations across areas such as planning, environmental law, procurement, competition and licensing
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, advising on business impact and required actions
• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including supply, services, IT and consultancy agreements
• Partner with cross-functional teams to support major strategic and infrastructure projects
• Communicate legal risks and solutions clearly to non-legal stakeholders
• Support dispute resolution processes, including litigation and arbitration, and contribute to corporate governance and Board-related matters
• Manage relationships with external legal advisors while contributing to team knowledge sharing and continuous improvement

The Person

As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience:

Essential:

• Qualified lawyer with post qualified experience and ability to handle a broad range of legal matters
• Strong legal and commercial judgement, delivering clear and practical advice
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail and a solutions-focused approach
• Effective team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Willingness to learn and develop sector-specific expertise

Desirable:

• Experience in the energy sector or another regulated industry
• Experience working in large or complex, multidisciplinary organisations
• Interest in climate change and the transition to a low-carbon future
