Finance Business Partner

MCS Group are working with Business Services Organisation (BSO) to recruit a Finance Business Partner to join its Finance Directorate on a 6-12 month temporary basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a part-qualified accountant to play a key role in delivering high-quality financial management and accounting services across Health and Social Care (HSC) organisations.

Working closely with the Finance Business Manager and senior finance colleagues, you will support both internal BSO directorates and external HSC customer organisations by providing financial analysis, budgeting support, and management accounting services. You will help ensure robust financial control, contribute to strategic decision-making, and support the delivery of BSO's financial objectives.

Key responsibilities

As a Finance Business Partner, you will:

• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial analysis reports to support effective budget management.

• Support budget setting, forecasting, and variance analysis for both internal BSO directorates and external HSC customers.

• Assist with the preparation of year-end financial accounts and monitoring returns for the Department of Health.

• Provide financial advice and support to budget holders and senior managers, helping them understand their financial position and manage resources effectively.

• Work with stakeholders to develop financial plans, projections, and service costings.

• Contribute to the development of financial policies, procedures, and improved reporting processes.

• Liaise with internal and external auditors and support financial governance requirements.

• Deliver financial insights and support to service improvement, efficiency initiatives, and strategic planning.

Essential Criteria:

• Part-qualified accountant who has completed the foundation level of professional accounting examinations (ICAEW, ACCA, CIPFA, ICAS, CIMA, or ICAI).

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in an accounting or finance role, including at least 1 year in financial management or management accounts.

• Experience producing budget reports, supporting budget holders, and participating in annual budget setting.

• Strong stakeholder engagement skills with experience working across different teams or organisations.

• Advanced IT skills including Microsoft Excel and experience using financial systems and accounting ledgers.

Desirable Criteria:

• Full membership of a recognised professional accounting institute.

• Knowledge of the structure and role of the Business Services Organisation (BSO) and the wider Health and Social Care system.
