Waste Operations Manager

MCS Group is currently working in partnership with a public sector organisation to recruit an environmental health officer on a long term temporary contract (6 months with the view to extension). Excellent hourly rate - £29.49 + benefits.

The Role:

• Lead the delivery of cost-effective, high-quality Operational and Waste Services in line with Council priorities, statutory duties and the Waste Management Plan.

• Manage Waste Services contracts, depots and Household Recycling Centres, including street cleansing, waste collection, public facilities and operational staff.

• Oversee Fleet Services, including operator licence compliance, route optimisation, vehicle telematics and fleet replacement programmes.

• Ensure robust health and safety, risk management, audit controls and statutory compliance across all areas of responsibility.

• Drive performance improvement, financial control, service planning and efficiency through innovation, partnership working and best-value approaches.

• Provide strong leadership and people management, promoting equality, effective communication, staff development and high standards of conduct.

The Criteria:

• Experience in a relevant waste or environmental role.

• Budget management experience.

• Managing large teams within a big organisation.
