Software Engineer (Full Stack) - Remote from UK

Belfast (Hybrid)

We're working with a well-established Belfast technology business that delivers advanced technical training platforms to global enterprise clients. With over 20 years in the market and 55 core employees, they are now scaling their engineering function to build the next generation of their platform.

Everything is greenfield.

Legacy systems are being removed and replaced with modern, cloud-native architecture. Engineers have full ownership across the entire software lifecycle, from infrastructure decisions through to deployment and production.

This is an opportunity to build properly, not maintain legacy.

The Opportunity

You'll join a small but rapidly growing platform engineering team responsible for building systems that power real-world learning environments, including lab-based exercises and structured multi-week programmes.

The team is scaling over the coming months, with plans to hire 1-2 experienced engineers who can mentor others while remaining hands-on.

Tech Environment

• TypeScript / Node.js

• React / Next.js

• AWS (serverless-first mindset)

• Terraform (Infrastructure as Code)

• PostgreSQL & DynamoDB

• CI/CD ownership

• AI-assisted development encouraged (Copilot, Claude etc.)

• Trunk-based development

There is no separate DevOps team; engineers own infrastructure, delivery and production.

What They're Looking For

• Strong commercial experience with TypeScript / Node.js

• Experience building modern React applications

• Hands-on AWS deployment experience

• Comfortable working across infrastructure and application layers

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines

• Collaborative mindset (pair programming beneficial)

• Mentoring capability for more senior applicants

Rust experience would be a bonus, not essential.

Interview Process

• 30-minute technical and motivation discussion

• 90-minute practical full-stack technical exercise

• Final 30-minute conversation with engineering leadership
