Principal React Developer

MCS Group is looking for a highly experienced Principal React Developer to lead the design and delivery of modern, scalable front-end applications. This is a hands-on role where you'll shape architecture, set best practice, and mentor engineers within a collaborative product-focused team. This is a key hire for this development team, and will be a position of technical influence within the company.

This is an excellent opportunity work on complex front-end challenges, and make a real impact while enjoying the flexibility of a hybrid role based in Belfast.

The Role:

• Help define and evolve front-end solutions for large-scale platforms, balancing design intent with technical practicality, performance and inclusivity.
• Turn product and design concepts into well-structured, production-ready interfaces that integrate cleanly with underlying services.
• Work alongside delivery, data and analysis teams to clarify requirements, constraints and technical trade-offs.
• Take an active role in end-to-end delivery, keeping senior engineering stakeholders informed of progress and risks.
• Create and enhance customer-facing functionality, while developing shared components and patterns through an internal design system.

You will be working with:

• React 18+ & TypeScript - advanced hooks, generics, composition patterns and performance optimisation
• Tailwind CSS and custom design systems
• React Hook Form for complex validation and type-safe API contracts
• Storybook 8 for component documentation and visual testing

This role requires solid experience with:

• Micro-frontend architectures within an Nx workspace
• Component-driven development and design systems
• Domain-driven design for business logic
• API-first, type-safe development

Salary: £80k - £95k DOE
