Mechanical Design Engineer

MCS Group are working with a well-established engineering contractor to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their in-house technical team.
This opportunity suits experienced engineers who want greater technical ownership, closer collaboration with delivery teams, and the chance to play a hands-on role in shaping design standards within a contractor-led environment.

The Role

We are partnering with a respected contractor seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design and delivery of complex building services projects. Reporting directly into the Head of Technical, you will be responsible for developing coordinated mechanical designs while working closely with operations teams and external design consultants.

The role offers a broad technical remit across the full project lifecycle, from early design development through construction support and handover.

You will;

• Deliver detailed mechanical building services designs in line with project and regulatory requirements
• Coordinate with internal delivery teams and external consultants to ensure buildable, efficient solutions
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers within the team
• Support live projects through construction, commissioning, and technical resolution

The Ideal Candidate;

• Proven experience in mechanical building services design within a contractor or consultancy environment
• Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, plant, and mechanical systems
• Confident coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders
• Proactive, detail-driven, and technically focused
