Functional Lead - Core Banking (Corporate Lending)

I am currently working with a global organisation undergoing a large-scale transformation of their core banking platforms.

They're looking to bring in an experienced Functional Lead Contractor to take ownership of complex lending design across corporate and syndicated products.

This is a senior, hands-on role where you'll sit across business and technology, driving key decisions and ensuring alignment across multiple systems and stakeholders.

The Role:

• Own the end-to-end functional design across corporate and syndicated lending products
• Lead key decisions around legal entity structures, booking models, and jurisdictional set-up
• Act as the central point of integration across core banking modules (credit, accounts, payments, customer data, etc.)
• Work through complex functional challenges across areas such as interest, rollovers, revaluations, and account structures
• Produce clear design documentation to support governance forums and senior stakeholders
• Engage closely with product and architecture teams to shape and finalise functional solutions
• Carry out detailed analysis to support and defend design decisions
• Act as a senior escalation point to unblock delivery where complexity or ambiguity exists

Requirements:

• Strong experience within core banking platforms, ideally across corporate or syndicated lending
• Proven ability to operate across both business and technical teams
• Comfortable owning and driving complex design decisions end-to-end
• Experience working within complex, regulated or legacy environments
• Confident operating in ambiguity and making clear, outcome-focused decisions
• Strong stakeholder management skills - able to challenge, influence, and communicate effectively
• Someone who can take ownership of problems and drive them through to resolution
