MCS Group is excited to partner with an award-winning fresh food manufacturer in the appointment of a Business Development Manager. Headquartered in Northern Ireland, our client is a market-leading supplier of high-quality prepared and value-added convenience foods, serving major retail, foodservice, and manufacturing customers across Great Britain, Ireland, and Northern Ireland.
This is a senior commercial opportunity designed for an experienced FMCG or fresh food sales professional. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving strategic growth, expanding market presence, and shaping the future commercial direction of the business. The role offers a defined pathway into commercial leadership, including the opportunity to build and lead a team of account managers.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the sales growth strategy across England, ROI, and NI, delivering sustained increases in revenue, margin, and market share.
- Generate new business opportunities across GB and ROI to meet and exceed growth targets.
- Build and maintain senior relationships with key retailers, distributors, and foodservice operators to expand the customer base and strengthen market presence.
- Lead commercial negotiations, including contracts, pricing frameworks, joint business planning, and promotional activity.
- Identify strategic account opportunities and implement growth plans to drive category expansion and volume increases.
- Collaborate with commercial, operations, NPD, and supply chain teams to ensure strong service delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Recruit, lead, and develop a team of three account managers, establishing a high-performance sales culture with clear KPIs and accountability.
Essential Criteria and Qualifications
- Demonstrated B2B sales success within FMCG, fresh produce, chilled foods, foodservice, or related categories (e.g., convenience, grocery, perishables).
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, with experience managing complex national or regional accounts and high-value negotiations.
- Proven track record delivering growth across ROI, GB, and NI markets.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills.
- Previous leadership or team development experience within a commercial environment.
- Full UK/EU driving licence and willingness to travel extensively.
Package & Benefits
- £70,000 base salary and a car allowance
- Performance-related bonus (agreed after six months, aligned to sales targets)
