MCS Group are delighted to be partnering with the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service in their search for a Business and Project Support Officer based in Belfast. This is a chance to make a real difference in an organisation that saves lives and protects communities!

This role sits within the Finance and Support Services Directorate and you will be an integral part of the Service Support Centre Team. You will provide expert advice and guidance to management and project teams on the development and delivery of projects to include vehicles, operational equipment, PPE/uniform and services and aligned to these areas. You will lead on the management of business cases, supporting project implementation through all stages and completing post project evaluations.

You will be:

  • Delivering a structured approach to prioritising and planning of all Asset and Services projects to be delivered within each Financial Year and across multi-year cycles.
  • Liaising with the Economic Advisor to ensure strategic alignment of business cases with those from across other parts of the Organisation.
  • Deliver business case project priorities aligned to the agreed prioritisation and planning based on available budget and corporate outcomes.
  • Assigning and managing resource and stakeholders for the projects to be delivered within each Financial Year including all scheduling for projects to be delivered using project management methodologies such as creating and maintaining action logs, project risk and issue logs when applicable.

The Person

You will be an experienced in the development of business cases through their lifecycle, with strong communication, influencing and organisational skills.

You will have:

  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline e.g. business management/improvement/business studies/finance with 2 years relevant experience in a large organisation OR HND or equivalent in a relevant discipline with 3 years relevant experience in a large organisation.
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office suite and Management Information Systems.
  • Applicants must have a valid driving licence and a car available for official business use, or access to a form of personal transport that will enable you to meet the requirements of the post in full.
