Zachery Downes

Zachery joined MCS Group in 2024 as a specialist recruiter, working closely with healthcare teams across HSCNI and the private sector throughout the Island of Ireland. His day-to-day work centres on understanding the specific needs of clinical and scientific teams, supporting them to secure the right talent while offering clear, practical guidance to candidates navigating their next move. He takes a considered approach to recruitment, focusing on long-term fit rather than quick placements.

He specialises in the Healthcare and Medical market, with a particular focus on Psychology, Biomedical Science, Pharmacy and Life Sciences. Zachery supports a range of organisations including HSCNI teams, private healthcare providers and local government bodies.

Known for his detailed understanding of a niche market, Zachery builds strong, conversational relationships that lead to consistent hiring outcomes for both clients and candidates.

Prior to joining MCS Group, he worked in mental health recruitment, supporting NHS Trusts across the North of England. Earlier in his career, he was self-employed as a tree surgeon in Suffolk.  He is also a qualified tree surgeon.

Outside of work, Zachery plays football and closely follows Ipswich Town FC across England.
