We're recruiting on behalf of a Local Goverment team to add an Waste Management Operative- A key role within the Council's frontline services that keeps the Borough looking its best.
You'll be part of the team responsible for providing essential Waste Resource Management (WRM) services, including kerbside collections, street cleansing, and Household Recycling Centre operations - all in line with the Council's quality and environmental standards.
The role:
Collecting domestic and commercial waste and recycling from kerbsides, ensuring containers are safely returned after collection.
Assisting drivers when reversing and reporting any mechanical or electrical issues with vehicles.
Carrying out street cleansing duties, including sweeping footpaths, emptying litter bins, removing fly-tipped materials, and maintaining public spaces to high standards.
Supporting Household Recycling Centre operations - helping residents with waste disposal, promoting recycling, and keeping the site clean and safe.
Collecting bulky items, heavy garden waste, and litter from public highways and Council properties.
Assisting with Council communications (e.g., leafleting or bin tagging) and other operational duties as required.
Taking part in alternative work such as gritting or snow clearance during severe weather.
The Person
As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience:
Essential:
- Previous experience in a similar role.
Strong engagement skills.
