We're recruiting on behalf of a Local Goverment team to add an Theatre Technician- A vital role across the Council Borough, being an integral member of the Arts and Culture Section, within the Community Planning Directorate, the Theatre Technician will be expected to contribute to the work of the Section with particular responsibility for meeting the technical requirements related to the staging of events, performances and conferencing across all venues.

The role:

  • Contribute to the delivery of technical services and support for performances, events, and conferencing.
  • Ensure all activities meet legal and Council Health & Safety standards, including risk assessments and safe working practices.
  • Lead and supervise technical operations for events, overseeing staff and maintaining high production values.
  • Train, mentor, and schedule staff to ensure full coverage and efficient performance.
  • Manage and maintain technical equipment, coordinating repairs, replacements, and regular inspections.
  • Act as main technical contact for visiting companies, clients, and internal teams to ensure smooth operations.
  • Support continuous improvement, stay updated with industry standards, and work flexibly across venues and events.

The Person

As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience:

Essential:

  • A Degree in a Technical Theatre related course and previous experience.

  • Experience in either stage management, live audio, event lighting or visual projection/display.
