MCS Group are delighted to be partnering with Translink for an exciting new permanent opportunity based in Belfast for an experienced Senior Standards & Assurance Engineer.
About the role
The purpose of the role is to provide assurance to the Head of Structures & Third-Party Works for delivering an adoption and management strategy for Network Rail and other relevant industry standards via compliance checks and audit processes as appropriate. The role requires technical experience and competency and plays a key part in the setting of standards to ensure compliance with industry best practice in the management of structures/civils assets (asset management, bridges, retaining walls, earthworks, sea defences, drainage etc) on the railway network. To deliver these outcomes, the role will involve the technical review of new and/or updated standards, assessing if they are applicable to NI Railways in conjunction with senior management and, if required, making risk-based recommendations on derogations and resources required to meet compliance targets.
Essential Criteria
- A degree in a Civil Engineering or other relevant construction or railway related discipline with a minimum of 3 years' experience in the application of legislation, policy and standards associated with the management and/or construction of civil engineering/structures assets OR A HND in a Civil Engineering or other relevant construction or railway related discipline with a minimum of 5 years' experience in the application of legislation, policy and standards associated with the management and/or construction of civil engineering/structures assets.
- Experience of applying procedures, policy and participating in audits to ensure compliance with accepted standards.
- Experience of reviewing technical information, assessing implications, and presenting data to support performance improvement.
- Experience in the application of legislation, policy and standards associated with the management and/or construction of civil engineering/ structures assets.
- Experience of Microsoft Office IT software (Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint etc).
- Full current driving license and access to a vehicle.
