Senior QA Engineer

MCS Group is looking for a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to join an exclusive client working in the IoT product space. You'll be responsible for testing complex embedded systems, building automation frameworks, and ensuring their products meet the highest standards of reliability and performance. Working closely with hardware, firmware, and software teams, you'll play a key role in validating cutting-edge features and delivering robust solutions to customers worldwide. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in QA and embedded systems who enjoys problem-solving, automation, and driving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Designing and executing test strategies with a focus on automation.
• Running manual and automated tests across embedded features.
• Creating and maintaining test automation frameworks (Python or similar).
• Using tools like Wireshark and Postman to debug and validate system behaviour.
• Performing system-wide testing such as regression, performance, stress, and hardware-in-the-loop.
• Documenting test results, raising clear defect reports, and collaborating with developers to resolve issues.
• Contributing to process improvements, root-cause analysis, and customer issue investigations.

The Ideal Person

• Degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Systems Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in QA or systems testing, ideally within IoT or embedded systems.
• Skilled in both manual testing and automation.
• Python automation skills.
• Solid understanding of QA practices, testing methodologies, and hardware/software interactions.
• Excellent analytical, debugging, and communication skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.

Desirable Criteria

• Experience with C programming language.
• Familiarity with Postman and TestRail, or similar tools.
• Experience in telematics, power optimisation, or environmental testing.

Salary - Up to £55,000
