MCS Group is working with a key public sector organisation as they look for a Project Manager to join the Finance Directorate. We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Project Manager (Band 7) to join the Finance Directorate within a major public sector healthcare organisation.
This is a leadership role, responsible for driving the successful implementation of the Finance aspect of a large, regional digital transformation programme (known as 'Equip' internally). Project Leadership: Taking the lead in delivering the new system's implementation within the Finance Directorate and supporting its rollout across the wider organisation.
Governance and Control: Establishing and maintaining robust project governance arrangements, managing all project budgets, and monitoring expenditure.
Risk and Issue Management: Managing systems for monitoring progress, reporting on performance and benefits delivery, escalating risks and issues, and implementing mitigating actions.
Stakeholder Engagement: Effectively collaborating with Directors of Finance, Assistant Directors, the regional Programme Team, external stakeholders, and suppliers.
Strategic Planning: Developing comprehensive project plans and strategies, producing required documentation and highlight reports in line with organisational standards.
Team Management: Managing staff allocated to the project stream, ensuring work is completed accurately and to deadline.
Essential Criteria (Required for Shortlisting)
Candidates must clearly demonstrate on their application form that they meet all four of the following requirements:
1. Qualifications and Experience
A University Degree or Professional Qualification AND at least 3 years' experience in a project management, change management, or service transformation role within a major organisation.
2. Project Leadership
Experience of leading a project across multiple sites or departments.
3. Project Methodology
Previous experience utilising a recognised project methodology (e.g., PRINCE2, or equivalent).
4. Mobility
Hold a current full driving licence valid for use in the UK and have access to a car for business use (disability waiver applies).
Benefits and Working Arrangements
Full-time position (37.5 hours per week).
Excellent benefits including the Health and Social Care Pension Scheme.
Generous annual leave: 27 days, rising to 33 days after 10 years, plus 10 public holidays.
Flexible Working Provisions: Including Flexi-time and Homeworking, available to support a positive work/life balance.
This organisation is committed to the values of Working Together, Compassion, Excellence, and Openness & Honesty. We are looking for a leader whose personal values align with this commitment.
