Operations Service Manager - Cloud Team

MCS Group is looking for an Operations Service Manager to join a key public sector body in their Cloud Infrastructure Team. This is for a 6 month temporary assignment in Belfast City Centre!

We are seeking an experienced Operations Service Manager (Cloud Services) to join the Digital Operations within a key public sector body. This is a Band 7 post, offering a salary of £46,148 (pro rata £23.60/hr). The role is within the Business Services Organisation (BSO) Information Technology Services (ITS).

The successful post-holder will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of cloud technologies. Your primary focus will be on ensuring their availability, reliability, scalability, security, and licence compliance. Key responsibilities include monitoring, troubleshooting issues, and implementing solutions to optimise service delivery and business solutions.

You will play a crucial role in driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service quality and efficiency. Your strategic vision will guide the execution of operational strategies to support business growth. Overall, the focus is on delivering exceptional service experiences while maintaining the highest standards of operational excellence

Working Hours: 37.5 hours.

Essential Skills & Experience

• This role requires significant experience in Cloud Technical Support. Candidates must clearly demonstrate the following essential criteria to be considered for shortlisting:
• ICT Technical Management Experience:
• Hold a university degree in a computer science-related subject or relevant ICT professional qualification and have a minimum of 3 years' experience in an ICT technical management role within a major organisation.
• OR have worked for at least 5 years in an ICT Technical management role within a major organisation.

A major complex organisation is defined as one with at least 200 staff or a turnover of £50 million per annum.

Cloud & Infrastructure Technical Knowledge:

• Recent experience/knowledge of working with Infrastructure/Cloud technologies and licensing, such as:
• Windows/Linux/Unix operating systems
• Microsoft 365 & Azure/AWS/GCloud Technology
• Relational Database systems
• Security, Client devices, and Application support

Project Experience: Have experience of leading or supporting ICT projects with a budget of over £50,000.

Methodology Experience:

• Have previous experience utilising a project methodology or contract management (e.g., PRINCE2, other similar methodology).
